Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There is no study available investigating the toxicity of Potassium (Z)-N-methyl-N-(1-oxo-9-octadecenyl) aminoacetate (CAS 76622-74-7) to aquatic microorganisms. Therefore, read-across was conducted to the related source substance (Z)-N-methyl-N-(1-oxo-9-octadecenyl)glycine (CAS 110-25-8) in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5. Based on the high degree of similarity between the structural and physico-chemical properties of the target and source substance, the source substance is considered a suitable representative for the assessment of the toxicity of the target substance to microorganisms. The read-across approach is justified in detail within the analogue justification in IUCLID section 13.

Both available studies were conducted according to the OECD guideline 209. In the first study, the nominal concentrations of 1.0, 3.2, 10, 32, 100, 320, and 1000 mg/L test item were inoculated with 1.7 g/L activated sludge (predominantly domestic) for 3 h under static conditions. The test item concentrations were not analytically verified. The inhibition caused by the test item did not rise above 45%. The reported NOEC (3 h) was 10 mg/L.

In the second study, the nominal concentrations of 1.1, 3.3, 10.7, 32.0, and 100.2 mg/L test item were inoculated with 1.6 g/L activated sludge for 3 h under static conditions after which microbial respiration was measured. The test item concentrations were not analytically verified. The reported IC50 (3 h) is > 100.0 mg/L (nominal).

Based on the available results from the structurally related source substance (in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5), which is characterized by a similar ecotoxicological profile and comparable structure, the NOEC (3 h) of 10 mg/L (nominal) is retained as effect concentration for the toxicity of the target substance Potassium (Z)-N-methyl-N-(1-oxo-9-octadecenyl) aminoacetate (CAS 76622-74-7) to aquatic microorganisms.
