Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

- Endpoint:
- flammable solids
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 7 January 2004 to 14 January 2004
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
- Deviations:
- no
- GLP compliance:
- yes
- Key result
- Test procedure:
- burning rate test: preliminary screening test
- Remarks on result:
- substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
- Interpretation of results:
- other: Not classified in accordance with EU criteria
- Conclusions:
- Under the conditions of the test, the test substance was not found to be highly flammable.
- Executive summary:
In a GLP compliant study conducted in line with EEC Guideline A.10, butanoic acid, 4-[[4-[7-chloro-6-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-3H-pyrazolo[1,5-b][1,2,4]triazol-2-yl]phenyl]amino-4-oxo, tetradecyl ester was not found to be highly flammable.
Reference
The test substance melted immediately when the flame was introduced. Ignition occurred after 85 seconds and propagated 35 mm down the train before extinguishing. Combustion did not propagate 200 mm.
Description of key information
Key study:- Brandt (2004) 'Physico-chemical properties with respect to melting, boiling and solid flammability' conducted in line with EU Method A.10. The test substance was not found to be highly flammable.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flammability:
- non flammable
Additional information
The key study (Brandt, 2004) was performed in compliance with GLP and to EU Method A.10 with a sufficient level of detail to assess the quality of the presented data. The study was performed to a good standard in line with an accepted, standardised guideline and was assigned a reliability score of 1 using the principles for assessing data quality as set out in Klimisch et al. (1997). The test substance was not found to be highly flammable.
It was considered justified to omit the testing for pyrophoric properties and for substances which in contact with water emit flammable gases on the basis that the studies are not scientifically necessary. Experience in use has shown that the substance is stable in contact with air and does not react with water.
Justification for classification or non-classification
In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to flammability.
