REMOVAL OF TEST SUBSTANCE
- Washing (if done): The treated eyes were washed thoroughly with isotonic saline at 37°C
- Time after start of exposure: 24 hours after exposure

SCORING SYSTEM: Draize

TOOL USED TO ASSESS SCORE: 0.01 % fluorescein-sodium solution was used to examine the treated eyes for corneal lesions at 24 and 72 hours.

Irritant / corrosive response data:
Definitely injected blood vessels were observed in 2 out of 3 animals at 1 hour post-instillation. Colourless eye discharge with moistening of the lids was observed within 1 hour after administration. All signs of irritation disappeared within 24 hours post-treatment.

Conclusions:
In the eye irritation study the test substance, 1,1,1,3,5,5,5-heptamethyl-3-octyltrisiloxane, was reported to be not irritating to rabbit eyes.
