Administrative data
First-aid measures
Immediately remove from further exposure. Get immediate medical assistance. For those providing assistance, avoid exposure to yourself or others. Use adequate respiratory protection. Give supplemental oxygen, if available. If breathing has stopped, assist ventilation with a mechanical device.
Skin contact
Initial emergency treatment should consist of washing with large amounts of 5% acetic acid (aqueous vinegar) alternating with soap and water, while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Continue regime for at least 15 minutes, although the acetic acid may be discontinued once the stickiness is gone. In all cases, large amounts of plain water rinsing for 5 minutes is the final step. If 5% acetic acid is not immediately available, wash with plenty of water until 5% acetic acid can be obtained. Get medical attention immediately. Wash clothing before reuse. Destroy contaminated shoes.
Eye contact
Important! Immediately rinse with water for at least 15 minutes. Remove any contact lenses and open eyelids wide apart. Get medical attention immediately. Continue to rinse.
Ingestion
Immediately rinse mouth and drink a cupful of water. Seek immediate medical attention. Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Most important symptoms/effects, acute and delayed
Itching, redness, swelling, burning or blistering of skin. Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, gastrointestinal irritation and/or diarrhea. Nasal discharge, hoarseness, coughing, chest pain and breathing difficulty.
Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Treat as alkaline substance (similar to ammonia). Observe for latent pulmonary edema. Observe for cardiac effects in high exposure situations at 24 and 48 hours after.
General information
Chemical burns must be treated by a physician. Thermal burns: Flush with water immediately. While flushing, remove clothes which do not adhere to affected area. Call an ambulance. Continue flushing during transport to hospital.
Fire-fighting measures
Unsuitable extinguishing media
Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire.
Specific hazards arising from the chemical
By heating and fire, toxic and corrosive vapors/gases may be formed. In the presence of sufficient oxygen, combustion may produce oxides of nitrogen and carbon dioxide. Nitrogen oxides can react with water to produce nitric acid. Combustion under oxygen starved conditions may produce numerous toxic products including carbon monoxide, cyanides and nitriles.
Special protective equipment and precautions for firefighters
Self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing must be worn in case of fire. Selection of respiratory protection for firefighting: follow the general fire precautions indicated in the workplace.
Fire fighting equipment/instructions
Use carbon dioxide or dry powder for small fires. Use aqueous film forming foam for large fires. Water spray should be used to cool structures and vessels. Prevent runoff from fire control or dilution from entering streams, sewers or drinking water supply.

General fire hazards The product is flammable, and heating may generate vapors which may form explosive vapor/air mixtures.
Accidental release measures
Eliminate all sources of ignition. Avoid sparks, flames, heat and smoking. Ventilate. Avoid inhalation of vapors. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear suitable protective clothing.
Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up
Absorb spillage with non-combustible, absorbent material.
Environmental precautions Avoid discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground.
Handling and storage
All handling to take place in well-ventilated area. Do not breathe mist or vapor. Do not get in eyes, on skin, on clothing. Local exhaust is recommended. Do not smoke and do not spray near a naked flame or other sources of ignition. The product is flammable, and heating may generate vapors which may form explosive vapor/air mixtures. Vapors are heavier than air and may travel along the floor and in the bottom of containers. Vapors may be ignited by a spark, a hot surface or an ember. Ground container and transfer equipment to eliminate static electric sparks. Observe good industrial hygiene practices.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Follow rules for flammable liquids. Do not store near heat sources or expose to high temperatures. Store away from incompatible materials.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Provide adequate ventilation and minimize the risk of inhalation of vapors and mists. Use explosion-proof ventilation equipment. Eye wash facilities and emergency shower must be available when handling this product.
Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment
Eye/face protection Wear approved chemical safety glasses or goggles where eye exposure is reasonably probable. In addition to goggles, wear a face shield where a splash to the face is reasonably possible.
Skin protection
Hand protection Wear protective gloves. Viton gloves are recommended. Other protective materials may be used, depending on the situation, if adequate degradation and permeation data is available. If other chemicals are used in conjunction with this chemical, material selection should be based on protection for all chemicals present. Suitable gloves can be recommended by the glove supplier.
Other Wear appropriate chemical resistant clothing to prevent any possibility of skin contact.
Respiratory protection Seek advice from supervisor on the company's respiratory protection standards.

General hygiene considerations
Always observe good personal hygiene measures, such as washing after handling the material and before eating, drinking, and/or smoking. Routinely wash work clothing and protective equipment to remove contaminants.

Avoid contact with acids and oxidizing substances. Nitrites. Copper and copper alloys. Cellulose nitrate.

Disposal considerations
Disposal recommendations are based on material as supplied. Disposal must be in accordance with current applicable laws and regulations, and material characteristics at time of disposal.

Waste from residues / unused products
Follow the instructions in Section Handling and storage and the general rules for flammable and harmful liquids.
Contaminated packaging Dispose of in accordance with local regulations. Since emptied containers may retain product residue, follow label warnings even after container is emptied.
