- Endpoint:
- appearance / physical state / colour
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- April 15 to May 12, 2014
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- test procedure in accordance with generally accepted scientific standards and described in sufficient detail
- Justification for type of information:
- Data come from the description of the test substance or observations in the GLP report on another physico-chemical property. No guideline is required according to REACh TGD. The substance is considered to be adequately characterised. Therefore full validation applies.
- Qualifier:
- no guideline required
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- Visual observation
- GLP compliance:
- yes (incl. QA statement)
- Remarks:
- inspected on 29 and 30 November 2010 / signed on 11 April 2011
- Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
- solid
- Key result
- Form:
- solid
- Remarks:
- viscous and extremely sticky paste like solid at room temperature (as described in the preliminary test related to the determination of the melting point of the substance)
- Colour:
- Dark brown
- Odour:
- other: "balsamic, woody, animalic" according to the Certificate of analysis provided by the supplier
- Substance type:
- organic
- Conclusions:
- The substance is a dark brown viscous and extremely sticky paste like solid at room temperature and atmostpheric pressure
- Executive summary:
Data come from the description of the test substance reported in the GLP study report on physico-chemical property of the substance and in the certificate of analysis provided by the supplier of the substance. Observations recorded during the pre-test related to the determination of the melting point of the substance were also reported as additional information.

Description of key information
Dark brown viscous and extremely sticky paste like, solid at room temperature and atmospheric pressure.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
- solid
Additional information
Data come from the description of the test substance or observations in the GLP reports on physico-chemical properties.
They are considered as key studies. The result is retained as key data.
Note that the melting range of the substance was determined to be between (15.5 °C - 21.2 °C) (see endpoint 4.2, Laus, 2014), which is in accordance with the physical state considered at 20°C and 1013 hPa.
Finally, according to flowability test performed during the relative density determination (see endpoint 4.4, Laus,2014), it was observed that the test item was flowable at 70 - 75°C.Information on Registered Substances comes from registration dossiers which have been assigned a registration number.
