Description of key information

For the iron constituent of the black pigment (Fe3O4), the substance prevails as uncharged in a crystaline form with non-measurable water solubility, and hence no adsorption/desorption to suspended solids and sediment is expected.

Lead constituents have an affiity for environmental solids such as soil and sediments. However, when analysing the solubility of the black pigment, no soluble fraction is detected. Thus the adsorption/desoption of the lead constituent of the black pigment is expected to be negligable. Data on lead adsorption/desorption from soluble lead salts is provided in line with the precautionary principle.
