Description of key information

In the DSC-measurement the energy of the exothermic decomposition of the test item Tetrakis(2-ethylbutyl) orthosilicate was potentially above the threshold of -500 J/g. Therefore, further tests for explosive properties had to be performed.

In the test on explosive properties according to UN Transport Regulation, Test series 1 and 2, the test item showed no explosive properties.

According to the results of the test on thermal stability and explosive properties, the test item is classified as following:

UN Transport Regulation: The test item does not have to be classified as explosive substance in class 1 according to the UN Transport Regulation.

GHS (CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008: Annex 1: 2.1): The test item does not have to be classified as explosive substance according to GHS or CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1: 2.1, respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive
