Reference
Name:
Aluminum hydroxide diacetate
Type of composition:
legal entity composition of the substance
State / form:
solid: particulate/powder
Reference substance:
Aluminum hydroxide diacetate
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Conclusion on persistence: not vP and P

The target chemical is considered to be ready biodegradable, since four publications conducted with the source chemical (acetic acid) indicate its biodegradability (reference 5.2.1-1 to 5.2.1-4). Thus, the P criterion is not fulfilled.

Conclusion on bioaccumulation: not vB and B

It was not possible to determine experimentally the partition coefficient using the individual solubilities of the test item in water and n-octanol. The program KOWWIN (part of EPI Suite) was used for calculating the log Pow of the test item. The calculated value was -0.63. Therefore, the B criterion is not fulfilled.

Conclusion on toxicity: not T

One long-term toxicity study in aquatic organisms is available, i. e. for algae. The EC50 and EC10 based on growth rate were determined to be 1.02 mg/L and 0.72 mg/L (hydrated substance, mean measured), and 0.92 mg/L and 0.66 mg/L (calculated value for anhydrous substance), respectively. The substance is not classified as carcinogenic, germ cell mutagenic or toxic for reproduction according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008; and there is no evidence of specific target organ toxicity after repeated exposure according to Regulation (EC) No1272/2008. Thus, the T criterion is not fulfilled based on the available data.
