Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials

Description of key information

Erbium tetraoxide vanadium is not oxidising based on chemical structure and oxygen content.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

Erbium tetraoxide vanadium does not contain a surplus of oxygen or any structural groups known to be correlated with a tendency to react exothermically with combustible material (cf. Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VII, Section 7.13, Column 2). Forms of vanadium with a higher oxygen content (i.e. V2O5) are not oxidising: Thus, read-across from another form of vanadium with a higher oxygen content (i.e. V2O5 with an oxygen content of 44 %) to erbium tetraoxide vanadium (oxygen content of 22.67 %) indicates that ErVO4 does not have any oxidising potential. Also erbium oxide does not have an oxidising potential.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Erbium tetraoxide vanadium does not need to be classified as oxidizing solid according to GHS, EC 1272/2008 (CLP-Guideline) Annex 1: 2.14 or Division 5.1 according to the UN-Transport Regulations.
