2017-03-30 - 2017-03-31
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
flask method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Batch No. 121015
Water solubility:
667 g/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
6.42
Details on results:
While being added to the water, solutions with increasing viscosity were being formed, finally resulting in a gel. In a concentration range from 0.1 g/2 mL - 0.3 g/2 mL cloudy solutons were observed, but at lowere and higher concentrations the solutions were clear.

With 4.0 g of test item being mixed into 2 g of water, a gel with total weight of 6 g was formed. This is equivalent to 66.7 %w/w of test item in solution/gel. Due to the fact that the density of the gel is not known and that the formation of the gel is a continuous process and no discrete point can be identified at which dissolution in water switches to gelling, the water solubility can only be approximated to 667 g/L.
Conclusions:
The water solubility is approximated as 667 g/L at 20 °C.
Executive summary:

The water solubility of the test item was assessed according to OECD TG 105. Based on the results of the preliminary test, the water solubility is approximated as 667 g/L at 20 °C. The pH value of a 2% solution of the test item in water was 6.42.
