First-aid measures

4.1. Description of first aid measures

General information:

Pay attention to self-protection.

In case of unwellness, call a physician. Show this safety data sheet to the physician.

After inhalation:

Remove affected person to fresh air. In case of unwellness, seek medical advice.

After skin contact:

Immediately wash with plenty of water and soap, and rinse thouroughly. If irritation persists, consult a physician.

After eye contact:

Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. If irritiation persists, consult an ophthalmologist.

After swallowing:

Thoroughly rinse mouth with water and let 1 - 2 glasses of water be drunken. Do not induce vomiting.

Call a physician.

If unconscious place in recovery position and call a physician immediately.

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Keep unprotected persons away.

6.2. Environmental precautions

Do not allow to enter into sewers / surface water or drains.

Do not allow to enter into soil.

6.3. Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Dry product: mechanically take up (sweep together and shovel up) material.

Or soak up with approved explosion-proof industrial vacuum cleaner. Avoid dust formation.

Place in a suitable, correctly labelled, tightly sealed waste container for recycling or disposal.

In case of solutions:

Bunding of bigger quantities and pumping into suitable containers.

Minor quantities: soak up with inert absorbent (e.g. sand, kieselguhr).

Collect in closed and suitable containers for recycling or disposal.

Clean contaminated area thoroughly. Prevent runoff from entering drains or sewers.

6.4. Reference to other sections

Personal protective equipment: see Section 8; Disposal: see Section 13.

Handling and storage

7.1. Precautions for safe handling:

Keep container tightly closed. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. (Dust may form explosive mixture with

air).

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Ensure good ventilation / exhaustion at the workplace.

Avoid formation of dust/vapours/aerosol.

Any deposit of dust which cannot be avoided must be regularly removed.

Do not breathe dust/vapours/aerosols.

Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing.

Make available sufficient washing facilities at the workplace. Provide eye shower.

In case of working with bigger quantities, provide emergency shower.

General hygienic measures:

Do not to eat, drink and smoke in work areas.

Wash hands thoroughly before breaks and after work.

Contaminated clothing should be cleaned by suction and not by blowing off or by brushing.

Separate storage of work clothes.

7.2. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Store away from sources of ignition, heat and light sources, oxidising agents, and other incompatible substances (see

section 10.5.).

Protect from humid air and moisture.

Store away from pharmaceutical products, food, beverages and feedingstuff.

Keep the packing tightly closed and store in cool and dry area with good ventilation, and protected from light.

Recommended storage temperature: < 35 °C.

Storage class (TRGS 510): 11 (combustible solids).

7.3. Specific end uses(s):

Photoinitiator for UV curable printing inks and coatings (industrial and professional use).

Intermediate for organic syntheses.

Laboratory chemical.

(industrial and professional use only.

Exposure controls / personal protection

8.1. Control parameters:

Components with occupational exposure limits requiring monitoring:

Austria (Grenzwerteverordnung 2011): No occupational exposure limit value established for CAS 82799-44-8.

Belgium: (BELGISCH STAATSBLAD — 14.03.2002 — Ed. 2 — MONITEUR BELGE): no occupational exposure limit value

established for CAS 82799-44-8.

France (Valeurs limits d'exposition professionelle aux agents chimiques en France, http://www.inrs.fr/ ):

no occupational exposure limit value established for CAS 82799-44-8.

Germany (TRGS 900, version dated 29.06.2015): no occupational exposure limit value established for CAS 82799-44-8.

General dust limit value: alveolar fraction: max. 1,25 mg/m3; inhalable fraction: 10 mg/m3.

Switzerland (SUVA 2012): no occupational exposure limit value established for CAS 82799-44-8.

United Kingdom (http://www.hse.gov.uk/coshh/): no occupational exposure limit value established for CAS 82799-44-8.

DNEL Workers: No data available.

DNEL General population: No data available.

PNEC: No data available.

8.2. Exposure controls

8.2.1. Appropriate engineering controls

Technical measures and appropriate working procedures have priority over the use of personal protective equipment.

See section 7.

8.2.2 Individual protection measures

Eye protection: Tightly sealed goggles (EN 166)

Protection of hands:

In case of long-term contact: protective gloves.

To avoid skin problems, reduce the wearing of gloves to the required minimum.

The protective gloves must comply with the specifications of EC-Directive 89/686/EEC and the corresponding norm EN

374 (in connection with DIN EN 420 and DIN EN 388).

The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/ the substance.

Due to missing tests no recommendation to the glove material can be given for the product / the chemical mixture.

Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation.

Glove material:

The selection of suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further quality characteristics and

varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Penetration time of glove material:

The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.

Body protection: protective clothing.

Protective clothing needs to be selected specifically for the workplace, depending on the concentrations and

quantities of the hazardous substances handled.

Respiratory protection:

Not necessary if exhaust ventilation at the workplace is working well.

Respiratory protection:is needed if technical suction / ventilation measures are not possible or not sufficient, and if

treshold limits are exceeded.

In case of short-term or low exposure: use filtering device. Respirator type: filter P1 or P2.

In case of long-term exposure or higher levels of exposure: wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Observe the wear time limits according to GefStoffV in combination with the rules for using respiratory protection

apparatus (BGR 190).

The employer shall ensure that maintenance, cleaning and inspection of respiratory protective equipment is carried out

in accordance with the equipment manufacturer's instructions.

Attention: respiratory protection devices with air filters do not protect against oxygen deficiencies at the workplace. If

the concentration of oxygen in the workplace is less than 17%, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

8.2.3 Environmental exposure controls

Emissions from ventilation or work process equipment should be checked to ensure they comply with the requirements

of environmental protection legislation. In some cases, fume scrubbers, filters or engineering modifications to the

process equipment will be necessary to reduce emissions to acceptable levels.

10.1. Reactivity

No data available.

10.2. Chemical stability

Heat sensitive; light sensitive.

Stable under recommended conditions of storage and absence of incompatible materials / conditions to avoid.

10.3. Possibility of hazardous reactions

Risk of explosions of dust/air mixtures.

Danger of violent reactions / explosions with strong oxidizing agents.

10.4. Conditions to avoid

Static discharges, ignition sources, light, heat.

Do not overheat in order to avoid thermal decomposition.

Avoid dust formation. Avoid formation of aerosols.

10.5. Incompatible materials
