Additional information

Conclusion on classification

The following acute data is available on Bromoform:

96 h LC50 (fish) = 29 mg/L

48 h EC50 (daphnia) = 46 mg/L

72 h EC50 (algae) = 13 mg/L

In addition Bromoform is not readily biodegradable.

Bromoform already has a harmonised classification in Annex VI of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP Regulation) and is classified as Aquatic Chronic Category 2 (H411) - Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects. The above data will result in a less severe classification than the Annex VI harmonised classification and therefore it has not been used for classification as the legislation does not allow for a self-classification to override (i.e. provide less protection) a harmonised classification.
