Description of key information

In the assessment of bismuth tris(2-ethylhexanoate), read-across to the assessment entities bismuth substances and 2-ethylhexanoic acid is applied since the ions of bismuth tris(2-ethylhexanoate) determine its fate and toxicity in the environment. The potential for acute toxicity of bismuth to fish is low based on a 96 h-LC50 of > 100 mg/L bismuth (WAF, 7 d equilibration) for freshwater species Danio rerio. 2 -ethylhexanoate also has a low hazard potential as indicated by an LC50 (96h) of >100 mg/L. In sum, bismuth tris(2-ethylhexanoate) has a low (if any) potential for acute toxicity to fish.
