Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Results and discussion

Flash point
Key result
Flash point:
> 70 °C
Remarks on result:
other: no flash point up to 70°C (above that temperature, the boiling of the water contained in the test item prevents the apparatus to continue measurements)

Any other information on results incl. tables

Several pre-tests were performed to estimate the flash point value.

During the first pre-test (from 25°C to 55°C), no flash was detected by the apparatus.

During the second pre-test (from 55°C to 85°C), no flash was detected by the apparatus.

During the third pre-test (from 70°C to 100°C), flash was detected by the apparatus during the first dipping of the ignitor into the test cup (70°C). However no flash was observed by the technician.

Three other pre-tests were performed anew between 70° and 100°C. Flash was detected at 70°C for two of them and at 85°C for one of them. For each pre-test, no flash was observed by the technician.

During the pre-tests, a significant evaporation and a beginning of ebullition at 90°C were noticed.

Furthermore the flash point of the reference substances butanol and CRM respects the checking cards limits.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
According to the various pre-tests that were performed, no flash was observed up to 70°C. Above that temperature, the boiling of the water contained in the test item prevents the apparatus to continue measurements. Therefore the flash point temperature is given as “>70°C”.
