Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Eye Contact: Flush with water while holding eyelids open for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately.

Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Flush area with large amounts of water. Use soap. Seek medical attention. Delayed effects may occur.

Ingestion: Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Wash out mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting unless directed by medical personnel. Seek medical attention immediately.

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air and keep patient at rest. Seek medical attention immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguish fires with CO2, extinguishing powder, foam, or water.

Formation of toxic gases is possible during heating or fire. May include oxides of carbon.

During all fire fighting activities, wear appropriate protective equipment, including self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Personnel involved in clean-up should wear appropriate personal protective equipment as specified in SDS. Minimize exposure.

Place waste in an appropriately labeled, sealed container for disposal. Care should be taken to avoid environmental release.Contain the source of the spill if it is safe to do so. Collect spilled material by a method that controls dust generation. Avoid use of a filtered vacuum to clean spills of dry solids. Clean spill area thoroughly.

Large Spills: Non-essential personnel should be evacuated from affected area. Report emergency situations immediately. Clean up operations should only be undertaken by trained personnel.

Handling and storage

Restrict access to work area. Avoid open handling. Ground and bond all bulk transfer equipment. Minimize dust generation. Use process containment, local exhaust ventilation or perform work under fume hood/fume cupboard. Avoid inhalation and contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. When handling, use appropriate personal protective equipment as stated in SDS. Wash hands and any exposed skin after removal of PPE. Releases to the environment should be avoided. Review and implement appropriate technical and procedural waste water and waste disposal measures to prevent occupational exposure or environmental releases. Potential points of process emissions of this material to the atmosphere should be controlled with dust collectors, HEPA filtration systems or other equivalent controls.

Store at room temperature in properly labeled containers. Keep away from heat, sparks and flames.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Pfizer Occupational Exposure Band (OEB):

OEB 3 - Sensitizer, Corrosive (control exposure to the range of 10ug/m3 to < 100ug/m3, provide additional precautions to protect from skin contact).

Engineering controls should be used as the primary means to control exposures. Use process containment, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to maintain airborne levels within the OEB range. Refer to applicable national standards and regulations in the selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Hands: Wear impervious gloves if skin contact is possible.

Eyes: Wear safety glasses as minimum protection.

Skin: Use protective clothing (uniforms, lab coats, disposable coveralls, etc.) in both production and laboratory areas.

Respiratory protection: If airborne exposures are within or exceed the Occupational Exposure Band (OEB) range, wear an appropriate respirator with a protection factor sufficient to control exposures to the bottom of the OEB range.

Stability and reactivity

Stable under normal conditions of use.

Fine particles (such as dust and mists) may fuel fires/explosions. As a precautionary measure, keep away from heat sources and electrostatic discharge.

As a precautionary measure, keep away from strong oxidizers.

Disposal considerations

Dispose of waste in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Member State specific and Community specific provisions must be considered. Considering the relevant known environmental and human health hazards of the material, review and implement appropriate technical and procedural waste water and waste disposal measures to prevent occupational exposure and environmental release. It is recommended that waste minimization be practiced. The best available technology should be utilized to prevent environmental releases. This may include destructive techniques for waste and wastewater.
