Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Interpretation of results:
- Division 1.1 (substances, mixtures and articles which have a mass explosion hazard) based on GHS criteria
- Conclusions:
- The test substance, Propatyl nitrate, was sensitive with respect to shock. The minimum impact energy required for activation is 25 J.
The test substance is not sensitive with respect to friction up to limit 360N. - Executive summary:
The test substance, Propatyl nitrate (TMPTN), was tested to find whether this substance presents a danger of explosion when submitted to the effect of shock and friction.
The tests were performed according to the Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, United Nations, 2009
Test 3 (a)(ii): BAM Fallhammer; internal test procedure No.213 and
Test 3 (b)(ii): BAM Friction apparatus; internal test procedure No.202
The test substance, Propatyl nitrate, was sensitive with respect to shock. The minimum impact energy required for activation is 25 J.
There was no observation of a positive event during the six tests with 360 N loading in test of mechanical sensitivity with respect to friction. The test substance, Propatyl nitrate, is not sensitive with respect to friction up to limit 360N.
