Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Principles of method if other than guideline:
In general, the scattering of the incident light gives distinct pattern which are measured by a detector. This technique is particle property dependetnt – i.e. materIal has unique scattering and diffraction properties which are also particle size dependent. It is important to calibrate the instrumet with similar material (of the same size range as the material to be measured). Laser scattering techniques are suitable for geometric particles, vizspheres, cubes and monocrystals.
Particle size will be established optically. The MMAD can be calculated by means of a calculation correction.
