Additional information

L-TME is a white solid (crystalline powder) which melts in the range of 56 -67 °C and decomposes at 124 °C. The particle size distribution of L-TME was determined to have d(0.1), d(0.5) and d(0.9) values of 63, 251 and 661 μm respectively. The Mass Median Diameter was determined to be 251 µm

The vapour pressure of L-TME is 1.2 Pa at 25°C and the relative density (D20) was found to be 1.26 at 20 °C.

L-TME is highly soluble in water, as water solubility is determined to be more than 500 g/l at 20 °C and the partition coefficient is determined to be -1.2 at 20 °C. The surface tension is 71.5 NM/m at 20 ºC at a concentration of 1 g/L.

There are no chemical groups within the structure of L-TME which imply explosive properties, hence the result has been predicted negative. Furthermore, L-TME is non flammable and no flammable gas is evolved either in contact with water or humid air. L-TME does not have oxidising properties and an autoignition temperature of 300 °C was concluded when examined experimentally.
