According to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex VII, general endpoint requirements for a registration in the tonnage band 1 - 10 demand data on the short-term aquatic toxicity to aquatic invertebrates and on the toxicity to algae as ecotoxicological information. Long-term aquatic toxicity data are not required for this tonnage band.
Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates
The assessment of the short-term toxicity of 3-(Hexyloxy)-1.2-propanediol (CAS No. 10305 -38 -1) to aquatic invertebrates is based on one reliable GLP guideline study conducted with Daphnia magna. No effects on immobilisation of the test organisms were observed at any of the concentrations (0.10, 1, 10, 100 mg/L).
Toxicity to algae
The assessment of toxicity of 3-(Hexyloxy)-1.2-propanediol (CAS No. 10305 -38 -1) to algae is based on one reliable GLP guideline study with freshwater algae. No effects were observed at the highest concentration 100 mg/L.
