Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air and provide oxygen if breathing

is difficult.  Give artificial respiration if not breathing.

Seek medical attention if rapid recovery does not occur.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15

minutes while holding eyelids open.  Rinse continuously with

water while on way to seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing or shoes.  Wipe excess from

skin and flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

Use soap if readily available or follow up by washing with

soap and water.  Do not reuse clothing until thoroughly

cleaned. Contaminated leather articles, including shoes,

cannot be decontaminated and should be destroyed to prevent

reuse.  Seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting.  Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use water fog, water spray or "alcohol" foam.  Dry chemical

powder, carbon dioxide, sand or earth may be used for small

fires only.  Do not use water in a jet.  Cool fire exposed

containers with water.

Product arising from burning: Not classified as flammable, but will burn.

Nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and unidentified organic

compounds (some containing nitrogen) may be formed during

thermal or oxidative decomposition or combustion.

Heating the test substance in the presence of air may cause

thermal and oxidative decomposition, producing exothermic

reactions which, in large masses, can cause runaway

polymerisation and charring of the reactants.  Fumes and

vapours from these thermal and chemical decomposition vary

widely in composition and toxicity.  Do not breathe fumes.

Delayed lung damage (pulmonary edema) can be experienced

after exposure to combustion products, sometimes hours after

exposure.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Do not enter confined fire space without full bunker gear

(helmet with face shield, bunker coats, gloves and rubber

boots) and a positive pressure NIOSH approved self-contained

breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.  Do not breathe

fumes, mists, aerosols and spray.  Take off immediately all

contaminated clothing.  Evacuate the area of all

non-essential personnel.  Shut off leaks, if possible,

without personal risk.

Prevent contamination of soil and water.  Prevent from

spreading or entering drains, ditches or rivers by using

sand, earth or other appropriate barriers.

For small spillages, absorb or contain liquid with sand,

earth or spill control material.  Shovel up and place in a

labelled, sealable container for subsequent safe disposal.

Put leaking containers in a labelled drum or overdrum.

Scrub contaminated surfaces with water.  retain washings as

contaminated waste.

For large spillages, transfer to a labelled container for

product recovery or safe disposal.  Treat residues as for

small spillage.

For small spills, take up with an absorbent material and

dispose of appropriately.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the usual industrial hygiene precautions, including

washing with soap and water before eating, drinking,

smoking, applying cosmetics or using toilet facilities.

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.  Do not breathe

mists, aerosols, spray, vapour.  Use local exhaust

ventilation.  If risk of inhalation, use approved respirator

(e.g. CEN, NIOSH/OSHA, AS) as required to prevent over

exposure.  Use an air-suppied respirator where high

concentrations are expected, or an air-purifying respirator

for organic vapours (with combined particulate filter if

mist is present).  Note: an air-supplied respirator should

always be used in confined spaces.

Do not get into eyes.  Wear chemical safety monogoggles if

there is potential contact with eyes.

Avoid contact with skin and clothing.  Wear chemical

resistant gloves (neoprene or nitril rubber) and protective

clothing (standard issue work clothes and safety boots

(chemical resitant, without lace holes)).  In the event of

risk from splashing, wear PVC, neoprene or nitrile rubber

apron.

Keep container tightly closed and in a cool, well-ventilated

place.  keep away from direct sunlight and other sources of

heat or ignition.

Use ventilation as required to control vapour

concentrations.  Eye wash fountains and safety showers

should be available for emergency use.

Storage: Keep container tightly closed and in a cool, well-ventilated

place.  Keep away from direct sunlight and other sources of

heat or ignition.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The preparation will be packaged in 250 kg stainless steel

drums.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Avoid contact with strong oxidising agents or acids.

Reactions with epoxy resins can produce considerable heat.

Chemical reaction with water: Do not expose to water vapour.

Dust explosion: Not applicable, test substance is a liquid.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recover or recycle if possible.  Otherwise, incinerate with

wet scrubbing facilities.

Keep container labelled until cleaned and then remove and

deface labels.  Drain container thoroughly.  Rinse three

times with water.  Treat rinsings as for product disposal.

Puncture container to prevent re-use.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Neutralisation is recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not suitable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incinerate with wet scrubbing facilities.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable, as the public at large will not be exposed

to the test substance.
