Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Lay victim down with legs raised,
loosen collar and belt. Cover with blankets. Restore
breathing if necessary or give oxygen if breathing is
difficult.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse eyes and under eyelids for 15 minutes. Seek immediate
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water immediately then rinse with dilute (<=3%)
acetic acid (vinegar). Wash with soap and water. Remove
contaminated clothing and shoes prior to cleaning skin.
Seek medical attention, especially if drenched.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Give 1-3 glasses of water followed by fruit juice or dilute
vinegar. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention for
further treatment.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Recommended extinguishing agents: Carbon dioxide, dry
powder or foam may be used. Avoid water as it may cause
scattering of burning material. Treat as an oil fire.

Product arising from burning: Products arising from pyrolysis: Combustion products may
contain carbon and nitrogen oxides and ammonia.

Protective equipment: Protective equipment: Wear a self-contained breathing
apparatus. Stay upwind of the fire.

Accidental release measures

Handling and storage

Handling: Rubber or plastic gloves, protective clothes (eg coveralls,
rubber suit) and goggles or face-shield should be worn.
Exhaust ventilation is recommended. Laboratory workers
should use a hood. For long-term exposure to large
quantities, a self-contained or air supplied breathing
apparatus with full face mask is recommended.

Storage: Drums should be stored in a cool (<50 deg C), dry and well
ventilated warehouse away from heat and sources of
ignition. For bulk storage, use carbon or stainless steel.
Avoid aluminium, copper, tin and zinc. Storage at low
temperature will result in the substance becoming very
viscous.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Other dangers: Avoid contact with strong oxidising agents,
acids, anionic surfactants or emulsifiers and chemicals
that react strongly with active hydrogens in amine groups.
Avoid contact with epoxide and isocyanate compounds. The
substance will polymerise with epoxy resins and
polyisocyanates giving off heat.

Chemical reaction with water: Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Spilt material may be recovered for reuse. Soil or other
material will be incorporated with the asphalt.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Dilute with water and neutralise with dilute (<3%) acetic
acid.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method. Use an approved facility equipped with
waste gas treatment to remove nitrogen oxides. Local and
national regulations must be followed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance itself will not enter the public domain.
