First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Symptomatic treatment. Remove patient to fresh air. Seek
immediate medical advice.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush eyes continuously with water for at least 15 minutes.
Seek medical advice.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected area with water
for at least 15 minutes. Launder contaminated clothing
before re-use. Seek medical advice.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical or alcohol foam
may be used.

Extinguishing agents not to be used : water

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon and
nitrogen and possibly hydrogen cyanide.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and a self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.

Wear full protective clothing, see 2.3.1.

Absorb spillages with a suitable inert material (eg. sand or
soil). Carefully transfer the spillage to waste containers,
or use a sealed industrial vacuum machine. Containers filled
with waste material must be labelled in the same way as the
original substance containers.

Clean the spillage area with detergent and water. Do not
allow washings to enter the drain.

Dispose of waste material in accordance with local
regulations by incineration.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the usual precautions for handling organic
chemicals. When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately
controlled using engineering controls, appropriate personal
protective equipment should be worn, such as a respirator to
a minimum standard of EN405 FFE1, chemical protective gloves
to Standard prEN374, safety goggles as classified in BS2092
or prEN166, and chemical resistant clothing as classified by
Standard EN368.

Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate
international or national standards.

Storage: Store in sealed steel containers preferably located
outdoors, above ground and surrounded by dikes to contain
spills or leaks. Store away from sources of ignition.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 5 gallon steel pail, 55 US-gallon (300 litre) steel drums
and 33 tonne steel iso-containers.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from minor spillages or accidental discharge is not
economically or technically feasible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the
hazardous properties.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with
inert material (eg. sand or soil) may be disposed of by
landfill at an authorised tip in accordance with local
regulations. (A650)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning
under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment
processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases
should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes (eg. nitrogen
oxides) could be formed. (A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
