Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Dipotassium disulfite decomposes at ca. 150 °C or at temperatures between 150 °C and 190 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

For the evaluation of this endpoint data from the CRC handbook were used as key information. According to ECHA, guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment – chapter R.7a, specific handbook data for physic-chemical properties are considered to be a reliable data source. Useful reference books and data compilations containing peer reviewed physico-chemical data include the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics.

Two further secondary sources (Hawley's Condensed Chemical Dictionary and IARC Monographs on the Evaluation of Carcinogenic Risks to Humans) were used to support the key information. All references indicate that dipotassium disulfite decomposes at temperatures of 150 °C (CRC handbook) or at temperatures between 150 °C and 190 °C.
