Description of key information

The test substance is not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The biodegradability of the substance was tested for 28 days at concentrations of 10.3 and 20.2 mg/L using of Tween 80 as an emulsifier in a GLP-guideline study according to OECD 301B (CIBA-GEIGY Ltd. 1992). Aniline and water with inoculum containing 3.0 mg/L TWEEN 80 were tested as reference substance and blank. In the concentration of 10.3 mg/L 71 % degradation was found within 28 days but failing the 10-day window. At a concentration of 20.2 mg/L 7 % degradation was measured within 28 days. Therefore, the test substance is not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.
