Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Phototransformation in air is not relevant due to low vapour pressure (< 0.0001 Pa).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Experimental results on phototransformation of 2-ethyl-2-(((1-oxoisooctadecyl)oxy)methyl)-1,3-propanediyl bis (isooctadecanoate) (CAS 68541-50-4) are not available. Separate calculations for the substance components using AOPWIN v1.92 indicate that the substance will be rapidly photodegraded by reaction with hydroxyl radicals (24 h day; OH-concentration: 0.5E+06 OH/cm³; Kuckuck C, 2012). Based on a 24 hour day the half-live estimated for the component TMP triester of 15-methylheptadecanoic acid was 5.35 hours. For the component TMP triester of 16-methylheptadecanoic acid the half-live was estimated to be 5.41 hours. However, due to the low vapour pressure (< 0.0001 Pa, SPARC v 4.6 calculation) dispersal of the substance to the atmosphere is unlikely. As this study is not a standard information requirement in REACh and there is no indication from the Chemical Safety Assessment (CSA) on the need to investigate further the fate and behaviour of the substance (Annex X requirement), no further testing is considered necessary for the substance.
