Description of key information

The substance is inherently biodegradable since significant mineralization of 57% was found within 60 days under conditions of a ready biodegradation study.

Additional information

Two valid GLP studies show that the substance is not readily biodegradable. This is the case for exposure to activated sludge (key study) and to sewage (supporting study). Both studies detected biodegradation at a low extent (maximum 10.4% and 13% within 28 days of exposure). The key study (which had been conducted with activated sludge) demonstrated maximum 13% biodegradation within 28 days in one replicate, plateau not reached yet. The 10% trigger value was reached on day 25. Furthermore, prolongation of the study to 60 days showed biodegradation of 57%. Based on the potential for biodegradation, the substance is considered to be inherently biodegradable.
