Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

First aid general principles - Important information
In case of doubt or in the presence of symptoms contact a physician, and show him/her the material safety data sheet. In case of severe symptoms, call your local health care emergency number. Call a poison control center in order to receive toxicological advice for the clinical management of poisoning.

First aid general principles - Inhalation
In the case of respiratory symptoms (cough, dyspnea) move the person to fresh air, place in a semi-seated position, and administer oxygen. Provide artificial respiration if the person is not breathing.

First aid general principles - Skin contact
Flush the skin with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Consult a physician if there are symptoms of skin irritation and/or pain.

First aid general principles - Eye contact
Remove contact lenses. Flush the eyes, kept open, with copious amounts of running water for at least 15 minutes. Consult a physician, especially if there are symptoms of eye irritation and/or pain.

First aid general principles - Ingestion
Do not administer anything by mouth unless advised to do so by a poison control center. Do not induce emesis. Rinse the mouth and consult a physician.

Fire-fighting measures

General information
Move all people away and stay upwind of the fire. Do not enter closed rooms without adequate protection.

Suitable extinguishing media
For small (incipient) fires, use media such as "alcohol" foam, dry chemical, or carbon dioxide. For large fires, apply water from as far as possible. Use very large quantities (flooding) of water applied as a mist or spray; solid streams of water may be ineffective. Cool all affected containers with flooding quantities of water.

Extinguishing media which shall not be used for safety reasons
None.

Exposure hazards arising from the substance itself, combustion products, resulting gases.
In the case of fire, irritant or toxic fumes may develop from the substance and from the other materials involved in the fire. Carbon monoxide poisoning may occur.

Protective equipment for fire-fighters
Wear self contained breathing apparatus for fire-fighting if necessary.

Further information
Use water spray to cool unopened containers.

Accidental release measures

Environmental precautions
In case of spills, do not allow the substance entering drains or watercourses. Remove the substance and send it for correct disposal.

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Use personal protective equipment. Avoid breathing vapors, mist or gas. Ensure adequate ventilation.
Remove all sources of ignition. Beware of accumulating vapours.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up
Contain spillage, collect and place it in container for disposal according to local and national regulations

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhalation of vapour or mist.
Keep away from sources of ignition - Do not smoke.Take measures to prevent the build up of electrostatic charge.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Store in cool place. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage.

Exposure controls / personal protection

According to the Company internal procedures, the on-site use and manufacturing of all substances take place under strictly controlled conditions that are the following:

(a) the substance is rigorously controlled from its arrival to its use and transformation:
- this good arrives in closed drums appropriately labeled;
- the storage is made in a closed, cool, dry environment away from heat sources, drains and watercourses;
- the substance is used and completely transformed (into a different substance) in a closed and controlled system; only the loading of equipment or vessels occurs in an open system but, in this case, very strictly procedures are followed by the operators who also wear Personal Protective Equipments (special disposable overall, protective mask with specific filter, protective gloves)

(b) procedural (Standard Operating Procedures for use) and control technologies (an adequate general and local exhaust ventilation) are used that minimize emission and any resulting exposure;

(c) the substance is handled only by trained and authorized personnel;

(d) in the case of cleaning and maintenance works, special procedures such as equipment washing are applied before the system is opened and entered;

(e) in cases of accident and where waste is generated, there is an Emergency Plan to minimize emissions and the resulting exposure;

(f) substance-handling procedures are well documented and strictly supervised by the site operator.

A periodic environmental monitoring confirms the efficacy of the above practices.

Stability and reactivity

No specific stability and reactivity information can be given.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Product
Burn in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber but exert extra care in igniting as this material is highly flammable. Contact a licensed professional waste disposal service to dispose of this material.

Contaminated packaging
Dispose of as unused product.

Disposal procedures are detailed in the "RMM_details" document which is attached in section 13 of the Registration Dossier.
