First-aid measures

General information:  When in doubt or if symptoms are observed, get medical advice.

First aider: Pay attention to self-protection.  Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes.

Inhalation:

Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately.  If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration.  If experiencing respiratory symptoms and/or feeling unwell call a physician immediately.

Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water and make the victim drink small quantities of water.  Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

If feeling unwell seek medical aid immediately.

Skin contact:  Wash with plenty of water. Remove contaminated, clothing and shoes  immediately.

If skin irritation or rush occurs: Get medical advice/attention.

Eye contact: Immediately rinse  cautiously with water for several minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue to rinse for at least 10 minutes. Immediately get medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

Carbon dioxide, extinguishing powder. Fight larger fires with foam.

Use water spray only If no more suitable extinguishing media are available.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Combustible.  In case of fire:  Emission of irritating and toxic fumes and gases. Release of  Hydrogen phosphide (phosphine), phosphorous oxides,

carbon monoxides and carbon dioxides.

Advice for firefighters:

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing. Full protection suit.

In a fire or if heated, a pressure increase will occur and the container may burst.

Move undamaged containers from immediate hazard area if it can be done safely.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Avoid inhalation and substance contact. Ensure supply of fresh air in enclosed rooms by adequate ventilation. Wear protective equipment.

Environmental precautions:

Do not allow undiluted product or large quantities of it to reach ground water, water course or sewage system.

Methods for cleaning up:

Absorb with liquid binding material. (sand, diatomite, acid binders, universal binders). Clean up affected area and ensure adequate ventilation after cleaning.

Additional information:       M

aybe a hazard to drinking water sources when large quantities get into groundwater. Inform the responsible authorities.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls

Provide adequate ventilation as well as local exhaustion at critical locations.

Provide eye wash equipment near the workplace.

Protective and hygiene measures

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice: Do not eat, drink, and smoke. Wash hands before break and after work.

Take off contaminated clothing.

Eye/face protection

Wear tightly fitting safety goggles.

Hand protection:

Wear suitable protective gloves.

The quality of the protective gloves resistant to chemicals must be chosen as a function of the specific working place concentration and quantity of hazardous substances. For special purposes, it is recommended to check the resistance to chemicals of the protective gloves mentioned above together with the supplier of these gloves.

Skin protection:

Wear suitable protective clothing.

Choose Suitable personal protection equipment dependant on substance concentration and amount specific for workplace. Resistance against chemicals should be clarified with the supplier.

Respiratory protection:

At exposure to vapour, mist wear respiratory equipment. Filter ABEK-P2 recommended.

Maintenance, testing and change of the filter cartridges must be performed following the recommendations of the supplier.

Environmental exposure controls:

Avoid release to the environment.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity:

No hazardous reaction when handled and stored according to provisions.

Possibility of hazardous reactions:

Violent reaction with: bases, strong oxidising agents, Acid, Acid halides.

Hydrolyzed with release of ethanol. (Highly flammable)

Conditions to avoid:

Heat. Avoid contact with water/moisture.

Incompatible materials:

Water, Oxidising agents, Strong acids, strong bases, acid halides

Hazardous decomposition products

Phosphorus oxides (e.g. P2O5) Hydrogen phosphides (Phosphine)

Disposal considerations

Advice on disposal:

Chemicals and packages as waste must be disposed of in accordance with Directive 2008/98/EC and the respective national and local regulations.

Consult your local or regional authorities.

Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation

Contaminated packaging:

The recipient of uncleaned containers must be informed on hazards caused by residues.

Do not contaminate ground- or surface waters via drainage, by cleaning of equipment or disposal of wastes.

Non-contaminated packages may be recycled. Handle contaminated packages in the same way as the substance itself.
