Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move exposed person to fresh air. Symptomatic treatment.

In case of indisposition seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water. If irritation occurs, seek

medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, dry powder, foam and carbon dioxide may be used.

Product arising from burning: Oxides of carbon and nitrogen, sulfur dioxide and other

toxic gases.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing. Sweep up (wet

powders with water), for liquids absorb using a suitable

absorbent material (eg. kieselguhr, sand, saw dust etc).

Transfer to labelled containers and dispose of by incine-

ration in accordance with local regulations. Wash spill

site with water. Prevent release to water courses.

Handling and storage

Handling: Ensure adequate ventilation. Observe the usual precautions

for handling chemicals. If the substance is handled as

powder, avoid inhalation and contact with skin and eyes.

Wear suitable protective gloves, safety goggles and a dust

mask. Use equipment for handling powders or other appro-

priate engineering controls.

Storage: The substance should be stored in well sealed and secure

containers in adequate rooms at room temperature.

Avoid dust residue outside the containers.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Ciba FP-60, polyethylene-drum in sealed cardboard-package.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None reported.

Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Dust explosion: Not to be expected if handled under good industrial

hygiene practices.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Normal application results in the consumption of approx.

98% by irreversible diffusion to the PES-fibres.

Recovery for recycling of the remaining substance is not

reasonably practicable.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None reported.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not suitable for deposit in landfill site.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Code 661: Incinerator with flue gas scrubbing

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Code 641: Removal by controllled discharge to a waste

water treatment plant

It is estimated that approx. 2% of the total quantity

used is discharged into internal industrial effluents as

highly diluted solution. A purification of the waste

water in a waste water treatment plant is recommended.

The dyestuff should be used in a well equipped dye house.

If necessary, the waster water can be purified prior to

the waste water treatment by membrane filtration or by

floculation with cationic agents or by treatment with

ozone. The most effective method is the membrane fil-

tration: more than 99% of the remaining dyestuff can be

removed from the waste water.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable the substance will not enter the public

domain.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable.
