Freezing Point:
Based on available data from reliable sources such as authoritative database and review literature, the freezing point of chemical 1-Bromo-4-fluorobenzene was determined to be -16 °C.
Boiling point:
The boiling point determination of 1-bromo-4-fluorobenzene (CAS No. 460-00-4) was done as per the test guideline OECD 103. The method followed was according to Siwoloboff. The boiling point of 1-bromo-4-fluorobenzene is 149.3°C at 973.5 hPa.
Density:
The density of test item 1-bromo-4- fluorobenzene (CAS No. 460-00 -4) was determined following OECD Guideline 109 and according to the IS 4730 : 1994 (Reaffirmed 2010) – Method for Determination of Density of Liquids (First Revision) using glass pyknometer. The mean density of test item was determine to be 1.6026 g/cm³ at 20°C and 973.1hPa.
Particle Size Distribution:
In accordance with REACH Chapter R.7A Endpoint Specific Guidance, specifically R.7.1.14.1 Information requirements on granulometry, the granulometry study does not need to be conducted as the test substance, 1-bromo-4-fluorobenzene is marketed or used in a nonsolid or granular form. The test substance, 1-bromo-4-fluorobenzene is a colorless liquid at room temperature and as such this study is not technically feasible. Hence this endpoint was considered for waiver.
Vapour Pressure:
Data from authoritative databases, modelling databases and handbooks indicates that the estimated vapor pressure of the test chemical lies in the range of 370 - 430 Pa at 25 deg C.
The estimated vapour pressure used for chemical safety assessment of 1 -bromo-4 -fluorobenzene was 499 Pa at 25 deg C, which lies in the above range.
Partition coefficient:
The partition Coefficient n-octanol/water of test chemical was determined by the Reverse Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatographic method according to OECD Guideline No. 117 for testing of Chemicals. The reference substances were chosen according to estimated Pow range of the test substance and generalized calibration graph was prepared. The reference substances were having Pow value ranging from 1.5 to 4.2.The Log Pow value was determined to be 3.018 ± 0.001at 25°C. By considering this log Kow value test chemical is considered to be hydrophilic in nature.
Water solubility:
The water solubility determination of test item 1-bromo-4-fluorobenzene (CAS No. 460-00-4) was done as per the OECD guideline 105 by spectrophotometric analytical method as per OECD 101. The solubility of 1-bromo-4-fluorobenzene in water was determine to be 193.878 mg/L at 25°C. Thus 1-bromo-4-fluorobenzene (CAS No. 460-00-4) is considered to be moderately soluble.
