Description of key information
A bioconcentration study in compliance with GLP criteria with common carp (Cyprinus carpio) is available for the substance. The study was carried out according to the "Method for Testing the Degree of Accumulation of Chemical Substances in Fish Body" stipulated in the Japanese national guideline "Testing Methods for New Chemical Substances". Fish (36/concentration; 16/control) were exposed to nominal concentrations of 0 (solvent control), 0.004 and 0.04 mg/L of the substance under flow-through condition for 28 days. N,N-Dimethylformarnide was used as solvent to prepare stock solutions. The analysis of the substance in test water and test fish was performed with Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Test condition was maintained at 24.2 - 25.0 °C and pH 7.5 - 7.7. The dissolved oxygen concentration was 7.4 - 8.2 mg O2/L (> 60% of saturation value) throughout the test.
The steady state of BCF (BCFss) is defined to reach when the variation of BCFs in three successive analyses at intervals of more than 48 hours is within ± 20%. It was estimated from the ratio of the steady state concentration in fish to that in water. No depuration phase was included in the test. The steady state for 0.04 mg/L treatment was only reached in peak 6 - 8. The BCFss was calculated to be 200 L/kg. BCF of peaks 2 – 5, peak 7 - 9 were not calculated because their steady state were reached after 28 days. The BCFss of 0.004 mg/L treatment was not calculated either, because its steady state was reached after 28 days in all peaks. The lipid content in the test fish was 2.96% before initiation of the experiment and after the termination of the experiment. Based on the findings, the BCF at steady-stated was calculated as 200 L/kg. After lipid normalisation to 5% lipid content, the whole fish BCFss values were 335 L/kg.
