Description of key information
No toxic effects up to the limit of water solubility (< 1 mg/L) for Daphnia magna (OECD 211), read-across.

Additional information
No studies investigating the long-term toxicity of C12-C18 trialkyl glyceride (CAS 67701-26-2) to aquatic invertebrates are available. Therefore, in accordance to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5 Grouping of substances, a read-across to the structurally related category members Decanoic acid, ester with 1,2,3-propanetriol octanoate, (CAS No. 65381-09-1) was conducted. Further justification is given within the endpoint summary 6.1 and within the category justification section 13. In this case of read-across, the best suited (highest degree of structural similarity, nearest physico-chemical properties) read-across substance within this category was used.
The long-term study with Daphnia magna (Decanoic acid, ester with 1,2,3-propanetriol octanoate, CAS No. 65381-09-1) was conducted according to OECD guideline 211 under semi-static conditions over 21 days (Küch, 1996). Due to the low water solubility of the test substance (< 0.01 mg/L), the test solutions (1 and 100 mg/L) were filtered after stirring for at least 16 hours. The measured concentrations of both test solutions were mainly < 1 mg/L. In one case higher concentrations were measured, showing an incomplete separation of undissolved test substance. No effect was observed in both test solutions (NOEC ≥ 0.01 mg/L) and thus, as no effect up to the limit of the water solubility of the test substance was observed, only a low chronic toxicity to Daphnia magna can be expected.
Based on the results obtained for the structurally related analogue (in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5), C12-C18 trialkyl glyceride (CAS 67701-26-2) is not expected to show long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates up to the limit of its water solubility.
