Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
auto-flammability
Type of information:
migrated information: read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate)
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2011
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Non-GLP study conducted following ASTM guideline E659; Testing was performe on analog subtancce farnesene which is differs only in that it has an additional double bond vs. myralene.

Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: ASTM E659
Principles of method if other than guideline:
ASTM E659 - 78(2005) Standard Test Method for Autoignition Temperature of Liquid Chemicals

The test procedure employs a 500 ml flask that is uniformly heated in a special
purpose furnace. A fine thermocouple in the flask is used to monitor
temperature changes that occur upon injection of a small quantity
of fuel into the flask. The test temperature is progressively lowered
until ignition does not occur within 10 minutes at any fuel concentration.
GLP compliance:
no
