First-aid measures

General advice: First aider needs to protect himself. Take off all contaminated clothing immediately. Victim to lie down in the recovery position, cover and keep him warm. Call a physician immediately.

Inhalation: Move to fresh air. Call a physician immediately.

Skin contact: Take off all contaminated clothing immediately. Wash off immediately with plenty of water. First treatment with calcium gluconate paste. Call a physician immediately.

Eye contact: Protect unharmed eye. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water, also under the eyelids. Call a physician immediately.

Ingestion: A person suspected to have swallowed the substance who is conscious should be given water to drink. Take to a doctor immediately together with this card.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray, Foam, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Dry powder, The product is not flammable.

Extinguishing media which shall not be used for safety reasons: No information available.

Specific hazards during firefighting: Fire may cause evolution of: Hydrogen fluoride. Heating will cause pressure rise with risk of bursting.

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit. No unprotected exposed skin areas.

Further information: Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment. Use water spray to cool unopened containers.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Ensure adequate ventilation. Wear personal protective equipment. Unprotected persons must be kept away. Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak.

Environmental precautions: Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This

must not be discharged into drains. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

Methods for cleaning up: Dilute with water. Use chemical neutralising agents Suitable material for dilution or neutralization lime Never neutralise with

the following products: soda ash Pick up with liquid binding materials and if necessary fill in containers capable of being locked.

Additional advice: The danger areas must be delimited and identified using relevant warning and safety signs.

Handling and storage

Handling

Advice on safe handling: Exhaust ventilation at the object is necessary. Use only acid resistant equipment.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: No special precautions required.

Hygiene measures: Keep working clothes separately. Separate rooms are required for washing, showering and changing clothes. Regular cleaning of equipment, work area and clothing.

Storage

Further information on storage conditions: Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Avoid product residues in/on containers Do not leave vessels/containers open.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Occupational exposure controls

The Personal Protective Equipment must be in accordance with EN standards:respirator EN 136, 140, 149; safety glasses EN 166; protective suit: EN 340, 463, 468, 943-1, 943-2; gloves EN 374, safety shoes EN-ISO 20345.

Avoid exposure - obtain special instructions before use.

Take off all contaminated clothing immediately.

Environmental exposure controls

Handle in accordance with local environmental regulations and good industrial practices.

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection : Full mask, B, P3, Remarks: In the case of vapour formation use a respirator with an approved filter.

Hand protection : Glove material: Viton (R), Break through time: 480 min, Glove thickness: 0,7 mm, Vitoject® 890

Remarks: Supplementary note: The specifications are based on information and tests from similar substances by analogy. Due to varying conditions (e.g. temperature or other strains) it must be considered that the usage of a chemical protective glove in practice may be much shorter than the permeation time determined in accordance with EN 374. Since actual conditions of practical use often deviate from standardised conditions according EN 374 the glove manufacturer reccomends to use the chemical protective glove in practice not longer than 50% of the recomended permeation time.

Manufacturer´s directions for use should be observed because of great diversity of types.

Suitable gloves tested according EN 374 are supplied e.g. from KCL GmbH, D-36124 Eichenzell, Vertrieb@kcl.de

Eye protection: Goggles

Skin and body protection: Wear suitable protective equipment. Complete suit protecting against chemicals

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to avoid: Some risk may be expected of corrosive and toxic decomposition products. To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat.

Materials to avoid: It reacts with carbon steel, nickel, aluminum and other metals leading to hydrogen.

Hazardous decomposition products: Hydrogen fluoride

Stability: No decomposition if used as directed. Fire or intense heat may cause violent rupture of packages.

Hazardous reactions: Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions. Gives off hydrogen by reaction with metals.

Disposal considerations

Product: Dispose according to legal requirements.

Packaging: Legal requirements are to be considered in regard of reuse or disposal of used packaging materials

Further information: Provisions relating to waste: EC Directive 2006/12/EC; 91/689/EEC, Regulation No. 1013/2006
