Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Experimental starting date: 19 April 2017. Experimental completion date: 02 September 2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Identification: 4-(1,1-dimethylethyl)cyclohexyl methacrylate (CAS 46729-07-1)
Alterative name: Nourycryl MC 110 Description: clear colourless liquid
Batch number: DAR-16030
Purity: 89.2%
Expiry date: 01 August 2018
Storage conditions: approximately 4°C, in the dark
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Preliminary Screening

The test item melted, ignited and burnt with an orange-yellow flame which became darker as the flame front progressed. The test item burnt for the 4 minutes but only travelled 100 mm.

The result of the preliminary test obviated the need to perform the main test.

Discussion

Although the test item was described as a liquid, it has a broad melting range which spans room temperature. As the test item solidified with it being stored at approximately 4°C and complete melting not guaranteed at room temperature, the flammability (solids) test was performed to address this.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test item has been determined to be not highly flammable as it did not propagate combustion over 200 mm in under 4 minutes.
Executive summary:

Flammability (Solids). Not highly flammable, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.10 Flammability (Solids) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

Description of key information

The substances is not highly flammable, not pyrophoric, does not emit flammable gases upon reaction with water and is not self heating.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
