Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No experimental data on Basic Red 014 acetate was available. Data on another salification, i.e. Basic Red 014 phosphate, was used to trace its physicochemical profile. Remarkable differences between the 2 salts are not expected. However, a detailed justification of the read across approach is attached in section 13.

Basic Red 014 acetate is a solid substance, which is market and used in liquid form, with a high content of acetic acid, used as stabiliser.

At 20 °C and 1013 hPa, the substance is a powder, it is expected to have a melting point slightly above 200 °C, then to decompose as shown by DSC analysis on the phosphate salification. The density of the substance is ca. 1.4 g/cm3at 20 °C.

The substance is expected to have a partition coefficient between octanol and water log Kow of ca. -1.7, determined by the shake-flask method at 20 °C and indicating a higher affinity towards the aqueous phase; it is very soluble (ca. 52 g/l at 20 °C and pH < 3) as determined by the flask method.

Experimentally, the similar substance resulted as non flammable, therefore also the target substance is expected to be non flammable. Based on chemical structure and known experience in handling/storage/use, the substance is considered as non oxidising. Similarly, explosiveness was excluded mostly due to oxygen balance and known experience in handling and use.
