BOD5 / COD results

Results with reference substance:
The measured COD value of sodium acetate was 0.66 g O2 per g test substance. This is comparable to its expected value, and validates the technique. The maximum biodegradation level attained was 71%, 60% of which occurred within the 10 day-window as expected for a biodegradable substance, thus confirming that the activated sludge contained viable organisms.
