Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A GLP-compliant prolonged 14-day toxicity test was conducted according to OECD 204 with Gobiocypris rarus under semi-static conditions as part of a new chemical substance notification in China. Based on nominal concentrations, the NOEC for Gobiocypris rarus exposed to potassium trifluorozincate for 14 days was 0.85 mg/L, the LOEC was 1.7 mg/L and the LC50 was 2.1 mg/L (95% CI of 1.7-2.6 mg/L). However, it should be noted that the 14-day prolonged fish test is not considered as a chronic test because the sensitive life-stages (juveniles, eggs, larvae) are not exposed. Therefore the results will not be taken into account as long-term fish toxicity for the derivation of PNEC.

Additional information

A GLP-compliant prolonged toxicity test with Gobiocypris rarus was conducted according to OECD 204 as part of a new chemical substance notification in China. Based on the results of the acute fish toxicity test, six treatment groups and a control group were included in the definitive test. The nominal concentrations of the treatment groups were 0.85, 1.7, 3.4, 6.8, 13.5 and 27 mg/L.

All treatment groups and control group had 3 replicates, each containing five fish and the test duration was 14 days. The test solutions were renewed twice a week. No mortality was observed in the control group and the dissoved oxygen concentration was greater than 60% of the air saturation value throughout the test. Under the test conditions, based on the nominal concentrations, the NOEC for Gobiocypris rarus exposed to the test substance for 14 days was 0.85 mg/L, the LOEC was 1.7 mg/L and LC50 was 2.1 mg/L (95% CI of 1.7-2.6 mg/L).
