Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

According to column 2 of EC 1907/2006 Annex VIII an activated sludge respiration inhibition testing does not need to be conducted if there are mitigating factors like poor water solubility indicating that microbial toxicity is unlikely to occur. The substance as well as the structural related substance (Z)-Docos-13-enamide is poorly soluble in water (< 1 mg/L) and no testing is required. Thus, the exposure of microorganisms in STP to these substances is very limited. Furthermore, the toxicity control (with 20 mg/L) in the biodegradation tests of (Z)-Docos-13-enamide attained 69% degradation after 28 days thereby confirming that the test material was not toxic to the sewage treatment micro-organisms used in the study and the substance is readily degradable. Docosanamide (CAS No. 3061-75-4) can be also regarded as readily biodegradable and a disturbance in the biodegradation process of a sewage treatment plant is not expected.
