The biodegradation of the test substance SDIPB was determined in an aerobic aqueous medium. The method followed was designed to be compatible with the OECD 301B ready biodegradability; CO2 evolution test; Method C.4 -C of EC No.440/2008; and US EPA Guideline OPPTS 835.3110. The reference substance was 87% degraded after 14 days, 85% degraded after 28days and met the 10-day window requirement. The decrease in degradation between days 14 and 28 was considered to be due to sampling/analytical variation. The test substance was 11% degraded at the end of 28 day, and therefore cannot be considered to be readily biodegradable under the strict terms and conditions of OECD Guideline No. 301.B (Huntsman, 2012).

The biodegradation of SDIBP was determined in an enhanced ready biodegradation test according to OECD 301B under GLP study. SDIBP was 36% degraded after 56days. The substance should be considered to be inherently biodegradable (Huntsman, 2013). Similar biodegradation profile estimation was found to be "biodegrades fast", and "does not biodegrades fast" in QSAR linear model and non-linear model methodology, respectively, by EPISUITE 4.00.
