Menthyl lactate was shown to be readily biodegradable in a screening study over 28 days according to OECD TG 301-E. The 10-day window was fulfilled in the study. Therefore, menthyl lactate is considered as rapidly degradable in the environment and further studies on the biodegradability of the substance in water, sediment or soil are not required.
