PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION (especially for difficult test substances)
- Method: As solubility lies below 100 mg/L, a saturated solution was prepared for the test. This was done by weighing the nominal load, adding the corresponding amount of dilution water and shaking vigorously for 24 hours. The resulting solution was filtrated through 0.45 µm filters.

Additional information

One study on fish toxicity is available for Zinc aluminium oxide. This key study was performed as a limit test according to OECD Guideline 203, in a static system, using Danio rerio as test organism (2012). As the solubility of the test substance lies below 100 mg/L, a saturated solution was prepared for the test. This was done by weighing the nominal load, adding the corresponding amount of dilution water and shaking vigorously for 24 hours. The resulting solution was filtrated through 0.45 µm filters. The fish were exposed to the filtered test solution for 96 hours. As no mortalities were observed during the test, the LC50 was determined to be > 100 mg/L. Measured Zn concentrations in control and test solution were in the same range (control: 0.058 - 0.03 mg Zn/L, 100 mg/L: 0.03 - 0.038 mg Zn /L).
