Aquatic toxicity to daphnia
The purpose of this study according to EU Method C.2 (Acute Toxicity for Daphnia) was to evaluate the influence of the test item Intermediate 36 on the mobility respectively survival of Daphnia magna. Young Daphnia were exposed in a static test to the test item for 48 hours. As the limit of solubility of Intermediate 36 is below the lowest level of quantification, analytical measurements of the test item concentrations were not performed during this study. A water accommodated fraction (WAF) of 100 mg/L of Intermediate 36 was prepared instead. In this 48-hour static acute toxicity test with Daphnia magna the 48 h LC50 value was > 100 mg/L, the 48 h NOEC was determined to be 100 mg/L. The results are based on the nominal concentrations.

Aquatic toxicity to algae

As the limit of solubility of Intermediate 36 is below the lowest level of quantification, analytical measurements of the test item concentrations were not performed during this study. A water accommodated fraction (WAF) of 100 mg/L (= limit of solubility of the test item in the media used) of Intermediate 36 was prepared instead. The 72-h EC50 based on growth rate was determined as 113.4 % of the limit of solubility in a 72-h algal growth inhibition test on Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata with Intermediate 36.
As the limit of solubility is 100 mg/L the 72-h EC50 is 113.4 mg/L.
The 72-h EC50 based on yield was 80.8 % of the limit of solubility. The overall NOEC was determined to be 50.0 % of the limit of solubility.
