Methyl Propyl Ketone (MPK) was determined to be readily biodegradable by an OECD Guideline 301 D (Closed Bottle Test) conducted under GLP conditions. 70% degradation of the test substance was observed by test day 28 thereby meeting the defined criteria. As the substance is readily biodegradable and showed a high degree of rapid and ultimate biodegradation, further simulation testing in surface water is not proposed. Based upon ready biodegradability and an anticipated low potential for sorption to soils or sediments based upon the log Kow value, further simulation testing in those media are not proposed as well.
