Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates
Administrative data
Link to relevant study record(s)
- Endpoint:
- short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates
- Type of information:
- read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate)
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Justification for type of information:
- Please refer to Read Across Statement attached in Section 13
- Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
- read-across source
- Key result
- Duration:
- 48 h
- Dose descriptor:
- EC50
- Effect conc.:
- > 1 020 mg/L
- Nominal / measured:
- nominal
- Conc. based on:
- act. ingr.
- Basis for effect:
- mobility
- Remarks on result:
- other: As the only immobilization observed was 5% at 1000 mg/L, no significant effect was observed at the tested concentrations of the test product.
- Details on results:
- - Mortality of control: None
- Other adverse effects control: None - Results with reference substance (positive control):
- - Results with reference substance valid? Yes
- EC50(24h): 1.6 (1.4-1.7) mg/L (This is in the specified range: 0.6-2.1) - Validity criteria fulfilled:
- yes
- Remarks:
- < 10 of control animals were immobilized. Dissolved ozygen saturation at the end was ≥ 98% in both tests and controls. EC50(24h) = 1.6 mg/L for control substance (K2Cr2O7, CAS no 7778-50-9) which is in the specified range (0.6-2.1 mg/L)
- Conclusions:
- EC50(48h) of test item exceeds 1020 mg/L for Daphnia magna.
Remark: the test solution contains NaOH due to the production method. - Executive summary:
The test was performed according to the OECD guideline 202 under GLP compliance. The test was done on Daphnia, the animal was exposed to the test item for 48 hours. As the immobilization was 5% observed at 1000 mg/L, no significant effect was observed at the tested concentrations of the test product. Thus EC50(48h) of test item exceeds 1020 mg/L
