Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anitcipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two guideline studies on the toxicity of the substance to microorganisms are available. In a study conducted according to ISO 8192 (Test for Inhibition of Oxygen Consumption by Activated Sludge), the 30 min EC20 for respiration inhibition was found to be 400 mg/L (nominal). Furthermore the results of an oxygen consumption test are available. The oxygen consumption test was conducted according to the German national standard, DIN 38412 Part 27. For the test organism Pseudomonas putida the 30 min EC10, -EC50, and -EC90 were determined to be 650, >10000. and > 10000 mg/L (nominal), respectively.
