A study is available in order to determine the acute toxicity of the substances belonging to the stilbene fluorescent whitening agents category to terrestrial macroorganisms. The EC50 value inEisenia foetidaaccording to OECD 207 was greater than 1000 mg/kg dry weight (CAS 16090-02-1, CIBA - GEIGY 1991).
The acute aquatic toxicity assessment covering all trophic levels and a long term study on daphnids reveal neither a need to classify the substances belonging to the category as dangerous for the environment, nor are they PBT or vPvB substances. Based on these data it is concluded that the risk to terrestrial organisms is expected to be low. Reading across, it is assumed that also for the substance CAS 371756 -75 -1 the risk to terrestrial organism is expected to be low.Therefore, toxicity studies on soil microorganisms, on terrestrial plants and on terrestrial arthropods are not provided.
