Additional information

Methyl phenyl sulphide is a clear colourless liquid and has a characteristic odour. The melting temperature of Thioanisole was determined to be -17°C using DSC and the boiling point of methyl phenyl sulphide is 193°C. The density of methyl phenyl sulphide is 1.0579 g/cm3and the vapour pressure of the test substance at 20oC (293K) was 38.5 Pa = 0.289 mm Hg. The Pow was determined to be 7.2 x 10^2 (log Pow 2.9).

The water solubility of the test substance at 20°C was <1 mg/L. The water solubility of the test substance is < 1 mg/l, according to the guidelines the test on the surface tension of the test substance needs not to be performed.

The Pensky-Martens closed cup method was applied for the determination of the flash point of Thioanisole. The flash-point of the test substance was 73°C. The test substance is auto-ignitable with an auto-ignition temperature at 1005.3 - 1017.4 hPa of 385°C.

Methyl phenyl sulphide is non explosive, no oxidising, non-flammable.
