First-aid measures
Remove the exposed person to fresh air. If unconscious,
seek immediate medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15
minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash immediately with plenty of soap and water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: The preparation is not expected to be harmful by ingestion.
No specific first aid measures are required. If large
quantities are ingested, induce vomiting if person is
conscious and seek medical attention. If person is
unconscious seek immediate medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
may be used. Use water to keep containers cool.
Product arising from burning: Carbon monoxide and dioxide, nitrogen oxides. Other
hazardous decompostion products are ammonia, methanol,
butanol and isocyanate.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Firefighters should wear self-contained positive pressure
breathing appartus and full fire-fighting protective
clothing.
Accidental release measures
spillage of the preparations. which contain butanol. Spills
should be covered with an inert absorbent material and swept
up into a waste disposal container. After containing the
spill and collecting the substance, the area should be
flushed with water.
Workers handling the spills should wear full protective
clothing and a self-contained breathing apparatus.
Impervious footwear should also be worn.
Handling and storage
solution. Handling precautions etc, are governed primarily
by the presence of butanol in the preparation.
Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Eye/face
protection, protective clothing and impermeable gloves
should be worn when handling the preparations. Face and
hands should be washed thoroughly with soap and water before
eating, drinking or smoking. The preparations should not be
used in close proximity to heat or flames or other sources
of ignition.
Storage: Store in a cool place in tightly closed containers. Ensure
containers are kept upright at all times to prevent spillage
of the solution. Keep containers away from heat, flames
or sources of ignition.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 55 gallon (ca 208 litre) polythene lined drums.
