Potassium bromide is an inorganic compound and therefore microbial degradation in soil, aquatic or terrestrial environment is not a relevant pathway, i.e. degradation to carbon dioxide and water, since it does not contain any carbon or hydrogen atoms in its chemical formula.

The bromide ions are thermodynamically stable and are naturally occurring in marine / estuarine waters and soils. Bromide ions are not considered to be biodegradable.
